Grilled Barbecued Chicken Recipe

This grilled chicken provides a combination of smoky flavor along with the tanginess of the barbecue sauce. Perfect for a summer weeknight meal or for a backyard barbecue with friends.

  • SAUCE:
  • 1 onion (medium)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast

  • Heat grill.
  • In 1 quart saucepan, heat sauce ingredients over medium heat until boiling, stirring occasionally.
  • In small bowl mix 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. paprika, 1/4 tsp. pepper. Sprinkle chicken with salt mixture.
  • Carefully brush grill rack with vegetable oil. Place chicken on grill over medium heat, cook 15 minutes.
  • Turn chicken, brush with barbecue sauce. Cover grill and cook 20-25 minutes longer, turning and brushing with sauce until juice of chicken runs clear (170 degrees for breast).

"This recipe was OK. I like my barbecue sauce just a little sweeter. If I make again I will cut the lemon juice in half and instead of 1 teaspoon of sugar I will add 3 to 4 tablespoons of brown sugar."
