1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oat meal
1 cup baking chips*
:large bowl and cookie sheets
Preheat oven to 350Âº F. Grease cookie sheets.
Cream together sugars and butter in a large bowl. Add egg, vanilla and milk and beat until smooth.
In a small bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Stir the sifted dry ingredients into the creamed sugar and butter mixture. Blend until smooth. Add oatmeal and baking chips of your choice*. Stir until combined.
Drop by teaspoonsful on well greased cookie sheet. Bake 6 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove from oven. Let stand approximately 1 minute on baking sheet before removing to wire cooling rack.
*Use any combination of baking chips to equal 1 cup, or use Â½ cup of nuts and Â½ cup of baking chips
