1 pound ground sausage
1 pound bacon
2 cups shredded pepper jack cheese or mozzarella
Pumpernickel Bread - small round slices
Brown the ground beef and sausage together; crumble into small pieces. Drain off the grease; set aside.
Fry the bacon until done but not too crispy. Blot off excess grease with paper towels. Cut slices into 2 or 3-inch pieces.
Layer the round bread slices starting with the ground beef and sausage mixture. Then sprinkle with a generous amount of cheese. Add a slice of the bacon pieces on top.
Place the layered rounds on a cookie sheet as you get them assembled. Bake at 350 degrees F. until the cheese has melted.
Serve while warm.

"My wife made these for card club this last weekend. She said they were simple to make and we all loved them. I think she could have made a double batch and we would have eaten them all."
