A type of wild berry that looks very similar in appearance to a raspberry, forming small round knobs around the surface of the berry as does the raspberry. As the Cloudberry matures, it changes from a reddish color to a yellowish-orange and provides a sweet and very tart flavor. High in vitamin C, Cloudberries are most often used for making jam but they are also added to breads, tarts, juices, liqueurs, and dessert toppings. The Cloudberry grows wild mainly in the temperate climates of the northern hemisphere in regions such as Scandanavia, Northern Europe, Asia, Alaska, Canada, the northern U.S., and Newfoundland to name a few. Cloudberries are also referred to as yellow berries or baked-apple berries.
