Refried Beans

A Mexican dish that is made from cooked red beans or pinto beans, which are mashed and then fried in fat or lard. Refried Beans are served as a side dish with other Mexican foods or as an ingredient in various food dishes prepared with the beans as a base. In Spanish, Refried Beans are referred to as "frijoles refritos" meaning, "well fried beans."
