German Cabbage Bundles Recipe

  • Rolls
  • 1 head cabbage, halved & cored
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, minced (large)
  • pinch of sage
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Sauce
  • 2 cans tomato paste (small cans)
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Boil cabbage until slightly tender, separating leaves; then drain. Stir together ground beef (raw), onion,sage,salt, pepper, cooked rice and 3 tablespoons tomato paste. Fill each cabbage leaf with this mixture, rolling or folding the leaves over and placing in a baking dish, seam side down. Then combine sauce ingredients and pour over cabbage rolls. Bake for 3 to 4 hours at 350°.
