Mom's Chocolate Fudge Cake Recipe

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups Flour (plain)
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 sticks Marg.
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 whole eggs
Melt margarine. Add cocoa and water and bring to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Add buttermilk, vanilla, and eggs. Mix well. Pour into 11x14. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 min. Ice while warm.

Icing: Melt 1 stick of margarine, 4 T. cocoa, 6 T. buttermilk and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add 1 box of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Use mixer to mix. (1 C. nuts..optional) Pour over warm cake and ice.
