Bread and Butter Pickles 2 Recipe

  • 4 quarts cucumbers, sliced
  • 6 onions, sliced (medium)
  • 2 green peppers, sliced
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric seed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons mustard seed
  • 3 cups vinegar
Combine cucumber, onions, green peppers, salt and garlic, cover with ice and let stand for 3 hours. Drain well. Combine sugar, vinegar, turmeric, mustard and celery seeds to boil. Add cucumbers, onions, peppers and garlic to brine and put in quart jars.
