English Muffin Bread 4 Recipe

  • 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Cornmeal
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids until very warm (120 to 130). Add to dry mixture, beat well. Stir in enough more flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon into 2 loaf bread pans that have been grease and sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle cornmeal on top of loaves. Cover, let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes.
