Hamburger Barley Vegetable Soup Recipe

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 beef-flavor bouillon cubes or 3 teaspoon instant beef bouillon
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped green pepper
  • 1/3 cup barley
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup Chili Sauce
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can chopped Italian tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 ounce can)
In 5-qt Dutch oven, brown ground beef, drain. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 hour or until vegetables and barley are tender.
