Tamale Pie 29 Recipe

  • Serves: 6 to 8
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 10 slices bacon, cut inch 2 inch pieces (optional)
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground meat (beef, pork or turkey)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 can tomatoes (large can)
  • 2 cups polenta
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese
Boil milk and broth, add polenta and cook until soft mixture. Cook bacon in oven-ready skillet (large enough to hold everything); add ground meat to bacon and brown. Add onion, green pepper, garlic, and chili powder and cook an additional 3 to 5 minutes. Add tomatoes last, mix well and cook until bubbly. Pour polenta over meat mixture and broil for few minutes. Add cheese, broil until melts.
