Italian Baked Penne Recipe

  • 1 package penne pasta (16 ounce pkg)
  • 1 pound ground mild Italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes (14.5 ounce can)
  • 1 can Italian Recipe petite diced tomatoes (14.5 ounce can)
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 425°. Boil pasta until al dente, about 8 minutes, drain and return to pan. Sauté sausage until cooked through, drain fat. Add onion and garlic and sauté. Add pepper and tomatoes and simmer stirring occasionally about 8 minutes. Combine sausage mixture with pasta and mozzarella cheese. Pour into a 13x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over top. Bake 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and sauce is bubbling.
